5 Creative Ideas for Kids Birthday Party - COVID Friendly Quarantine Birthday Ideas
This has not been an easy season on any of us, our children included. As we approach the one year anniversary to this global mess (yes that’s what were referring to as the pandemic) It’s likely you have celebrated a quarantine birthday for a child in your life. Last year we were probably all thinking that it was the only year we would have to deal with it, but here we are one year later. For that reason, let’s talk about how to throw an awesome quarantine birthday that doesn’t feel pandemic-y.

RENT A PRIVATE MOVIE THEATRE
Many movie theaters are allowing people to request theatre rentals for private screenings. You can invite up to 20 people and cost starts at $99. The theatre has newly released movies or choose from some fan favorite classics. Availability and pricing will vary theatre to theatre so give your local. This idea is sure to make your child feel special even amidst having a quarantine birthday!
STAYCATION
Spring is on the horizon and weather is getting warmer. You might not be in a place where you can go camping quite yet but if you do, it’s a great option! You can also hit up a local waterpark/hotel or neighboring fun city for a weekend staycation and hit up the local attractions. So often we look to catch a flight elsewhere when there is a lot to see right in our own communities or the ones next door!

MAGAZINE BIRTHDAY
Most likely you’re party will have less people than previous years. Your food budget may be smaller so use that to decorate extra for the birthday kid! Our favorite ways to spoil the birthday child is balloon arches, personalized extravagant cake or cupcakes, piñata, backdrop for photo ops. You can also incorporate a scavenger hunt (like Easter but for birthdays!) or yard games, or and obstacle course! Any of these things have the ability to entertain for at least an hour! We also think surprising them with a special birthday outfit that morning is a fun way to make them feel special too!

PICNIC AT THE PARK
Kids find so much enjoyment out of a simple picnic. Invite friends and bring the blankets because the opportunities for this one are endless! You can still do many of the same ideas as above in terms of games, scavenger hunt or obstacle course. You can also bring decorations!
Let the child you are celebrating have some say in this one and let them choose what they want to eat! They’ll love they get to take part AND have their favorite foods too!

ENCOURAGE MAIL
I’m not sure what it is with kids and receiving mail, but it makes them feel very important! You can incorporate this idea into any other idea to make it extra special. Have friends and family who can’t make it send cards. Your child will feel oh so celebrated even if they just have their immediate family at their party by hearing from everyone else via mail. Plus, it’s more for them to open and we all know kids love opening things! ;)
Any of these ideas are sure to make the child in your life feel special! Take these ideas and make them your own, tweak them to specialize it to your child or their day specifically. Don't be afraid to break (or bend) some rules. Let them have the pillow fight, stay up late, maybe even let off a few fireworks! You are sure to forget that it’s another “quarantine birthday” with any of these plans!
